Connecting your domain via nameservers is an advanced method that requires a thorough understanding of DNS configuration. If you choose this option, you transfer the DNS settings from your domain provider to Onepage.
📌 Please note: In general, we recommend connecting your domain to Onepage using an A record. This method is easy to set up and suitable for most use cases.
⚠️ Important: If you connect your domain to Onepage via nameservers, you may need to configure additional DNS records such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC, TXT, or CNAME in Onepage, especially if your email address is associated with this domain.
Connect your domain using the nameserver method
Step 1: Purchase a Domain
Register with a domain provider such as Namecheap or Strato and purchase your own domain.
Step 2: Access your domain settings in Onepage
Log in to Onepage and select your project. Navigate to Settings → Domain settings.
Step 3: Add your domain
Click "Connect custom domain" and enter your domain.
⚠️ Important: Please enter your domain without "www" to ensure it can be connected correctly.
Step 4: Select the nameserver method and configure the records
In the pop-up window, select "Nameserver records" and then click "Next step".
Onepage will now display two nameserver records that you must enter exactly as shown with your domain provider:
ns1.onepage.ions2.onepage.io
Once you have added the nameserver records with your domain provider, click "Okay, got it".
Step 5: Your domain is being connected
Once you have entered your custom domain in Onepage, you can monitor the connection status in real time. Onepage automatically checks whether your domain has been configured correctly.
⚠️ Important: Connecting your domain may take a few hours (in rare cases, up to 48 hours). Therefore, your domain may not be accessible immediately.
Step 6: Domain connected & SSL certificate issued
Your domain has been successfully connected. If everything is configured correctly, the green indicators show that your website is securely accessible.

Make sure you use only one connection method for your domain. If you use the nameserver method, do not additionally configure a CNAME record for the same domain, as this may cause conflicts.
If all settings are correct, please allow up to 48 hours for the SSL certificate to be generated and activated.

Why am I getting a 404 error?
Why am I getting a 404 error?
If you visit your domain and see the error message 404 - Page not found, there are two possible reasons:
1. Your website hasn't been published yet
Open the editor for your homepage and click "Publish".
Repeat this step for all additional subpages you want to make available online.
2. No homepage has been set for your project
Open your project settings and select a page as your homepage. This tells the system which page should be displayed by default when someone visits your domain.
