You stay in full control with your domain provider, while Onepage checks everything for you in the background.
Thanks to our Live Status feature, you are guided step by step through the connection process. You see in real time whether everything has been set up correctly, and if something is missing (e.g. a record was forgotten), you immediately get a clear error message with a specific hint.
Connect your domain via A-Record
Please follow these steps to connect your domain via A-Record:
Step 1: Buy your domain
Sign up with a domain provider such as Namecheap, Strato, etc., and purchase your own domain.
Step 2: Open the domain settings in Onepage
Log in to Onepage and select your project. Go to Settings → Domain settings.
Step 3: Add your domain
Click "Connect custom domain", enter your domain without www and click "Next Step".
Step 4: Select the A-Record method and add the records
After you have added your domain in Onepage, you will be asked how you want to connect your domain. You can choose between A-Record and Nameserver.
Select the A-Record method (A-records) and click "Next Step".
Onepage now shows you two DNS records that you need to add with your domain provider exactly as shown:
A-Record:
Host/Name: Enter "
@" to point to the root domain.Type: Select "
A" as the record type.Value: Enter the IP address provided by Onepage:
216.162.200.200TTL: Set to the default value (usually "
3600" seconds).
CNAME:
Host/Name:
wwwType:
CNAMEValue: Copy and paste your domain here as shown in the Onepage domain settings.
⚠️ Important: Make sure you copy both records exactly as shown. This is the only way your domain can be connected correctly.
As soon as you have saved the records with your domain provider, click "Okay, got it" in Onepage to complete the connection process.
Step 5: Check the Live Status
After you have added the two DNS records (A record and CNAME) with your domain provider and clicked "Okay, got it" in Onepage, Onepage shows you the Live Status of the domain connection.
You can now follow in real time how your domain is being connected. The process runs through three steps:
DNS entries are correct: Onepage checks whether the A and CNAME records you added have been set correctly. If everything is right, this step is marked green.
All servers updated: As soon as the records are active worldwide, Onepage detects this automatically. This step also turns green once everything has been fully applied.
SSL certificate is being generated: In the last step, Onepage automatically creates an SSL certificate so your site can be reached securely via HTTPS. This can take a few minutes, and you can follow the progress live.
As soon as all three steps are marked green, your domain is successfully connected to Onepage!
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Why isn't my domain connecting even though the DNS records are set correctly?
Why isn't my domain connecting even though the DNS records are set correctly?
If you have added both DNS records as described in our guide, but your website is still not reachable or the SSL certificate is not being activated, this may be because there are other, conflicting DNS records.
In this case, please check your DNS settings with your domain provider. For the connection with Onepage, only the A-Record we specify may be set for the domain. If necessary, remove any other A-Records that point to different IP addresses, as well as any existing AAAA records (IPv6).
Also make sure that the two required A-Records are set correctly. After that, it may take some time for the changes to be applied and for the SSL certificate to be activated.
