Collect incomplete form leads

In this article, you will learn how to collect incomplete responses (leads) in a form.

Written by Alina

In this article, you will learn how to automatically save incomplete form entries as leads if visitors abandon your funnel before final submission.

This feature allows you to secure contact details entered in the first steps of a form and rescue valuable leads that would otherwise be lost.

Why is this feature useful?

  • Maximize Lead Generation: You no longer lose potential customers who abandoned the form midway due to distractions or technical issues.

  • Targeted Follow-Up: If the visitor already entered their email address or phone number in the first steps, you can contact them to answer open questions and win the lead after all.

  • Funnel Optimization: Incomplete entries show you exactly which questions or steps cause most users to drop out. This helps you improve your form based on data.

📌 Note: This feature requires the "Expand" Forms & Funnels Add-on.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Add a form

If you need help creating a multi-step form, please check out this article: Create a multi-step form (funnel)

Step 2: Edit the form and open settings

  • Click the "Edit Form" button in the upper left corner.

  • Navigate to the Settings.

Step 3: Collect incomplete responses

  • Click on the option "Collect partial responses".

Step 4: Update the page

  • To apply the changes to your page, make sure to click "Update".

How exactly does it work and where do I find the leads?

When is a lead captured?

As soon as a visitor starts filling out the form (completes at least the first step/required field) and subsequently leaves the page or closes the tab, the lead is saved in the background.

Where can I see the data?

Incomplete leads are saved in your Onepage CRM and are labeled as a "Partial Lead".

Legal Notice:

Ensure that the collection and storage of this pre-captured data complies with the legal privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) of your region.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why are incomplete leads not collected on mobile devices?

On smartphones, tabs are usually not completely closed; instead, they are just minimized or the user returns to the home screen. For an incomplete lead to be captured, the system must register that the tab was closed. While this is always the case on desktop, it rarely happens on mobile devices.

Which pricing plan is required for this feature?

This feature requires the "Expand" Forms & Funnels Add-on. For more information about our pricing and features, please visit our pricing page. There, you can flexibly switch between the main plan and the Forms & Funnels Add-on.
