Since August 2026, the transparency rules of the European AI Law (EU AI Act, Article 50) have taken effect.
For website owners, this raises the question: Do you need to label every single piece of AI-generated text or visual on your landing page?
The short answer: No. There is no blanket requirement to label all AI content. The law is designed to prevent deception—obligations only apply to a few specific scenarios.
Quick Overview
Content on your Onepage site | Label required? | What to do |
AI Chatbots & Interactive Bots | Yes | Users must know upon first contact that they are speaking with an AI. |
Photorealistic AI Images & Videos (Deepfake style) | Yes | Visually label realistic AI-generated people or media as "AI-generated." |
Obvious AI Graphics & Animations | No | 3D renders, cartoons, vector graphics, or abstract loops do not need a notice. |
Human-reviewed Texts & Landing Page Copy | No | Once a human reads, edits, and takes responsibility for the text, no label is required. |
When do you need to disclose AI on your Onepage site?
1. Live Chatbots & Support Assistants
If visitors interact directly with a chatbot or AI assistant on your site, it must be clearly identifiable as AI.
Onepage Tip: Add a short introductory sentence inside your chat widget setup, e.g.:
“You are chatting with our AI assistant. For personal requests, it will gladly connect you to our team.”
2. Deceptively Realistic Media (Photorealistic AI Images)
If your site uses AI-generated images or videos that look like authentic photographs of real people, places, or events (deepfake category), the law requires a visual disclaimer.
Onepage Tip: Add a small text block directly below the image element in a reduced font size:
“Stock photo – generated with AI.”
When do you NOT need a label?
Website Building with AI Assistance: Using AI tools to draft headlines, text sections, or page copy counts as AI assistance. As long as you review and approve the content before publishing (Human-in-the-Loop), no label is required.
Graphics, 3D Effects & Animations: Stylized, clearly animated, or abstract visuals (such as Higgsfield scroll animations) fall outside the disclosure mandate for realistic illusions.
Standard Product & Marketing Copy: Sales pages, about-us sections, or blog guides do not require an AI tag.
Onepage Compliance Checklist
Chatbot Check: If you use live chat, does the initial greeting transparently mention the AI assistant?
Media Check: Do any AI images look like genuine photographs of real humans or events? (If yes, add a caption or replace with clear artwork).
Text Check: Have all text elements on your site been reviewed by a person prior to going live? (If yes, you're all set—no notice needed).
