Difference between "Scroll to" and anchor-links
In Onepage there are two ways to lead visitors to a specific section of your page:
Option 1: "Scroll to" function
With this function, you can set buttons or menu items so that they automatically scroll to a specific section of the currently open page when clicked.
Option 2: Set up anchor links with custom attributes
If you have specific requirements, such as linking from other pages directly to a specific section of your onepage site, you can set up anchor links with custom attributes.
📌 Please note: If you only want to jump to a section within your onepage site, we recommend using the "Scroll to" function. You can find instructions on the "Scroll to" function in our article: How to add different functions to a CTA button (see section "Scroll to").
Set anchor links to sections
Step 1: Select the target section
Go to your target section, click the three dots in the top-right corner, and then click "Custom attributes".
Step 2: Enter your ID
In the "ID" (custom-id) field, enter any name you want to link to.
Step 3: Enter the URL
Enter your domain in the search bar and add your ID after it.
For example: https://yourdomain.com/#case-study
The ID is inserted immediately after the domain and always begins with a #-symbol.
Then simply copy the link from the search bar.
Step 4: Inserting the link
You can now place the link behind a button:
or add it to the menu:
In both cases, the action must be set to "Link to".
Step 5: Update and check the page
Now you can click "Update" or "Publish" and then test the links live.
Set anchor links to elements
With anchor links, you can not only link to entire sections, but also jump directly to specific elements within a section.
This is especially helpful when you want to take users directly to a specific piece of content without making them scroll through an entire section first, for example, in long sections or on mobile views.
Step 1: Scroll to the element
Go to the element you want to link to.
Step 2: Open Settings
In the column overview, click the icon with the three lines (menu). Then select the item you want to link to and open "Custom Attributes" there.
Step 3: Enter ID
In the "ID" (custom-id) field, enter any name you want to link to.
Step 4: Add the URL
Enter your domain in the search bar and add your ID after it.
For example: https://yourdomain.com/#contact
The ID is inserted immediately after the domain and always begins with a #-symbol. Then simply copy the link from the search bar.
Step 5: Inserting the link
You can now place the link behind a button:
or add it to the menu:
In both cases, the action must be set to "Link to".
Step 6: Update and check the page
Now you can click "Update" or "Publish" and then test the links live.
