MCP integration in the Onepage CMS: the smart route to a blog

Setting up your CMS via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the fastest way to create structured content such as blogs, directories or portfolios fully automatically.

Instead of clicking your way through collections, fields and pages by hand, you connect your website to an AI (such as Claude) that handles the entire setup for you from a single prompt.

In this guide, we use Claude as a hands-on example of how to do it.

Preparation: adding the Onepage CMS beta MCP as a connector in Claude

Before you can generate the blog with a prompt, you need to set up the Onepage interface in Claude.

⚠️ Important: The Onepage CMS beta MCP is not the regular Onepage MCP, so it has to be added as a new connector.

MCP is the interface between Onepage and external AI assistants, and it lets you manage pages, content and website structures directly from those tools. You can find a detailed explanation of MCP in this article.

A. Quick guide:

  1. Open Claude and go to Settings, to the MCP or connector settings.

  2. Add a new custom connector.

  3. Enter the official Onepage MCP server URL:

  4. Log in to Onepage and grant access in the pop-up (“Allow”) to activate the connection.

B. Detailed guide:

Note: Building a Onepage website via MCP does not use up any Onepage AI credits. Instead, you use the tokens of the AI tool (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor) that is connected to Onepage.

Step 1

Open Claude.

Step 2

Click your profile in the bottom left and go to “Settings” → “Connectors”.

(Sometimes a pop-up window appears asking you to add a custom connector. If that happens, you can simply close the window. If the pop-up does not appear for you, go straight to “Add” to browse for connectors.)

You can also find the direct link to the connectors here: https://claude.ai/customize/connectors/directory

Step 3

Click “Add” on the right-hand side.

Step 4

Give the MCP connector a name. Now enter the HTTPS address “https://beta-mcp.onepage.io/” and click “Continue”.

Step 5

We recommend the following settings for authentication and the OAuth client:

Then click “Add”.

Step 6

Now you need to connect your Onepage account to Claude. To do so, click “Connect”.

You are now redirected and need to log in to Onepage.

Once you have entered your Onepage credentials successfully, you are automatically redirected back to Claude.

There, you will see the message: “Claude wants to access your account.”

Now click on “Allow”.

Step 7

You can click “Always allow” to grant permission for all options.

This allows Claude to work with Onepage and to create, edit and manage websites on its own.

Alternatively, you can select "Ask permission" and then grant the permissions per chat.

How to create a blog via MCP

Step 1: Start Claude with a prompt

Instead of clicking together collections, fields and page templates by hand, you use the MCP interface by giving Claude (e.g. in your desktop app) a clear instruction.

  • Example prompt for Claude:

"Create a complete blog for a cleaning company in London for me via the Onepage MCP. I need 5 example posts, a blog overview page and individual SEO settings for every single post."

Step 2: Automatic generation by Claude

Claude processes your request in the background and lays the foundation for your project:

  • Collections & fields: The matching data structures (e.g. title, slug, rich text, featured image) are created completely automatically.

  • Records (content): The requested test entries (the 5 blog articles) are filled straight away with meaningful text.

  • Pages & templates: The system generates the necessary overview page as well as the page template and links everything together correctly.

⚠️ Important note about Claude links

When you click a beta.onepage.io link generated by Claude (web-based Claude), your browser may redirect you automatically to app.onepage.io. In that case the CMS project will not load correctly.

Solution: After clicking, check your browser’s address bar. If the link changes to app.onepage.io, replace app manually with beta (so that it reads beta.onepage.io/...) and press Enter. The editor will then load your project as usual.

Step 3: Visual fine-tuning in the builder

As soon as Claude has created the basic structure via MCP, you can switch to the Onepage builder as usual to adjust the design to your liking:

  • Adjust the overview page: Place a CMS grid on your blog page to display all articles in a clear layout. Alternatively, you can ask Claude to make this adjustment for you via MCP.

  • Refine the template: Edit the design template for the individual articles, add elements or link further dynamic fields.

In practice: a concrete use case

Here is another, more detailed prompt you can use to instruct Claude to generate a targeted blog including specific fields and content:

Example prompt for Claude:

"Create a blog in Onepage using the CMS feature. First create a new project. Set up a collection for blog articles with the fields title, slug, featured image, author, category, publication date and content. Then create 5 example articles on the topics of online marketing, lead generation and landing pages and display them in a blog overview with individual article pages."

Result in the editor:

Result live on the website:

Advantages of using MCP over the manual method

Feature

Manual setup

MCP setup (via Claude)

Time required

Several steps (creating collections, fields and pages by hand)

A single prompt to Claude is enough

Risk of errors

Higher (links have to be checked manually)

Lower (the AI sets up the logic correctly on its own)

Getting started

Requires clicking through menus

Ideal for quick tests and sandbox projects

📌 Important note on the beta phase:

Projects that you edit with CMS features (whether manually or via MCP) will open at beta.onepage.io until the official release.

So ideally use the beta only for test projects and not yet for live client projects that are already running.

Next steps

Try it out right away: connect the Onepage MCP in Claude, start a new test project and see how quickly you can generate a complete blog with a single instruction!

Then experiment with further tasks: have Claude adjust your blog overview, create new articles, revise existing content or extend your CMS.

That way you can find out step by step which tasks you can automate with the Onepage MCP and complete much faster.
