About Us & Team: Content, Tips & Examples

In this article you'll learn which content belongs on a good About Us page and how to introduce your company and your team authentically.

Written by Vanessa Haack

A good About Us page gives visitors an authentic insight into your company and the people behind it. It builds trust, shows personality and helps you create a personal connection to your brand.

Why an About Us page matters

Before someone decides on a company, they often want to know who they are dealing with.

Trust plays an important role especially with personal services. Whether it's a dental practice, a law firm, an agency or a trade business: visitors want to see who is behind the company and which people they can expect.

A personal About Us page makes your company more tangible. Instead of only showing services and information, visitors get an impression of the people behind it.

What belongs on a good About Us page

An About Us page should show one thing above all: Who is behind the company? Give your visitors a personal insight into your company, your team and the way you work. Focus on the information that is relevant to your visitors and that builds trust.

1. Who you are

Introduce your company briefly and explain what you offer. Also show what makes you special and what customers can expect from you.

How to put this into practice: Describe in a few sentences who you are, which services or focus areas you offer and what matters to you in your work. That could be your specialization, your experience, your way of working or your personal approach, for example.

Try to be specific. Instead of using general statements like "We stand for quality and expertise", better show what your customers will actually notice.

Example:

At home in the Berlin property market for over 15 years

We support people in buying and selling their property, from the first conversation to handing over the keys. Because every apartment, every house and every life situation is different, we take the time for personal advice and say openly what we think of the market and the price. We know Berlin street by street, and we pass on this knowledge to our customers unfiltered.

When writing, think about what your customers want to know about you before they decide on you. It is exactly this information that makes your About Us page personal and credible.

💡 Tip: The more specific your introduction is, the more personal it feels. Name your industry, your location, your specialization or particular features of your company, for example.

2. Your team

For many visitors, the team is the most important part of an About Us page. Show which people stand behind your company and who looks after or treats your customers.

It's best to introduce your employees with name, position and a short personal text. Depending on your company, qualifications, focus areas or professional experience can also be interesting.

Authentic photos help to put a face to the people and give visitors a first impression of who will be looking after them. Depending on your company, photos from everyday work can make sense alongside portraits.

Example:

Laura Schneider - Real estate consultant

Laura handles the sale of residential properties in Berlin and, after eight years in the industry, knows that two apartments in the same building can tell very different stories. She prepares every sale so that owners know where they stand, from the first pricing conversation to signing at the notary.

3. Your story

A short story can show how your company came about and what drives you. It gives visitors an insight into your development and makes your company more personal.

You don't have to tell every step of your company history. Focus on the most important milestones and on stories that say something about you and your work.

How to put this into practice: Tell how it all began, why you founded the company and how you have developed since then. Concrete stories or important moments that show what still defines you today are particularly interesting.

Example:

What began in 2009 with a small office in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg is today a team of 12 property experts. We founded our company with the goal of making property brokerage more personal and more transparent. Since then we have supported numerous families in selling their home and have stayed true to our original standard: honest advice instead of empty promises.

💡 Tip: Rather tell a short story with concrete details than write a long chronology of every year of the company. That keeps the story interesting and still conveys where you come from and what you stand for.

4. Your values and way of working

What is important to you in your work? How do you deal with your customers and what can they expect from you? Describe your values as concretely as possible. Instead of general statements like "Quality and trust are important to us", you can show how you live these values day to day and what your customers gain from it.

How to put this into practice: Think about which principles determine your daily work and how these show up in working with your customers. That could be personal advice, transparent communication, dedicated contacts or a particular way of working, for example.

Example:

There are no one-size-fits-all solutions with us. We take the time to understand our customers' situation and wishes precisely, and we also give honest advice when a property may not be sellable at the desired price. From the first valuation to closing, our customers have a dedicated contact who supports them personally.

💡 Tip: Don't only ask yourself which values are important to you, but also: How does a customer notice that we work according to these values? That is exactly what produces concrete and credible copy.

An About Us page shouldn't sound like a company brochure. Visitors want to get a real impression of you.

So write as naturally as possible and show personality. Tell small stories, introduce real people and use images that suit you. You don't have to be especially creative or extraordinary. It is often precisely the simple and personal information that makes a page likeable.

About Us page depending on your type of company

How an About Us page is structured depends strongly on the company.

  • Dental practice: Introduction of the dentists and staff, qualifications, treatment focus areas, personal interests and photos of the team.

  • Agency: Introduction of the team, areas of responsibility, expertise, way of working and insights into everyday work.

  • Trade business: History of the business, introduction of the employees, specialist areas, experience and photos from everyday work.

  • Self-employed: Personal story, motivation, expertise, way of working and an authentic portrait.

You don't have to use all of the content listed here. Choose the information that suits your company and your visitors.

Creating an About Us page

With Onepage you have various options for building your About Us page.

Option 1: Use a template

The easiest way is to use a ready-made template. You can create a new page in your project by clicking the blue "Create" button.

Then you can pick the right page from our existing templates. To do so, click the search icon and search for "About us". You will get two matching templates that already contain a professional structure and that you can adapt individually.

You can then adapt the page individually to your company:

  • Change texts

  • Swap images

  • Adjust colours

  • Add team members

That gives you a quick foundation without having to create the entire page yourself.

Option 2: Use individual sections from templates

You don't want to take over a complete template? You can also build your page individually and use individual section templates. Click the blue "Create" button in your project overview.

Select "Start from the scratch". You can then add individual sections and build your page step by step.

Matching section templates are available for the various areas of your About Us page. You can simply add them and then adapt them to your existing design, your texts and your images.

Option 3: Create a page with AI

You can also have your About Us page created entirely with the help of our AI. This is the most flexible way, because the page is created individually according to your ideas and is not based on a fixed template.

Simply describe to the AI:

  • your company and what you offer,

  • your industry and your target group,

  • your team and which people should be introduced,

  • which content the About Us page should include, e.g. your story, values and way of working,

  • which information visitors should learn about you and your team,

  • as well as the style and design of your About Us page.

The AI then creates an individual draft that you can continue to edit and adapt at any time.

The following help articles show you how to get the most out of our AI:

Unlike with a template, you get a page that is tailored exactly to your company. This way you can have unique content, an individual design and exactly the areas you need created.

💡 Tip: We recommend using the AI as a starting point and then supplementing the draft with personal content such as real photos, concrete information about your employees and insights into your everyday work. Authentic content makes your About Us page more personal and builds trust.
